A good read . . . and a good cause
ADVERTISER'S ANNOUNCEMENT!
About a year ago, having invited former students to send me brief snippets of nostalgia from college days, I self-published this little booklet. Sales, at £5 a time, enabled me to send £220 just before Christmas (2006) to a selfless priest in Accra, Ghana, who works among orphans, sick children and cured lepers. (I met him a few years ago when I did some work in Ghana for the Thomson Foundation.)
About 130 copies were sold - 55 of them to the contributors, who are now on nationals, regional papers, magazines, radio and TV - and every penny of the profit went to Accra.
About 50 copies are still available, for the same good cause. Anyone who sends me a postal address and a fiver will have one whizzed their way by first-class post. The address: Lathkill, Temple Walk, Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, DE4 3PG.
